Call Taker – Answers incoming emergency and non emergency voice and Text Telephone (TTY) calls from the public. The Call Taker  determines the nature of the call, assigning priority to the call while simultaneously entering information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System. The Call Taker  provides lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations while responders are en route.

Telecommunicator – Dispatches the appropriate agency (e.g., Police, Fire, and/or Emergency Medical Services), to the incident location through use of a radio and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System; coordinates multi-unit, multi-jurisdictional response calls. The Telecommunicator maintains constant awareness of available response units, in order to dispatch calls appropriately and efficiently.
