911 Emergency Communications Training Program

Training is a vital element of any communications center, as it is necessary to ensure that employees are properly trained to perform the complex functions of effective public safety communications. Training plays an essential role in the Center’s abilities to provide telecommunicators who are better prepared to act appropriately in very demanding situations. Our training program will ensure the needs of the Center are addressed and that there is strict accountability for all required training. Training will be consistent with the Center’s goals and objectives.

Our training program consists of 8-10 weeks of classroom training. During this training, employees schedules will be Monday-Friday, from 8:30am-5:00pm. Once training is complete, employees will be placed into their assigned 12-hour shift, receive additional On-the-Job Training with a dedicated Shift Training Officer. Upon completion of the classroom training, employees will have obtained the following certifications:

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Course Certifications

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification

APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator I

APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification
